Starbucks adds pumpkin to their Pumpkin Spice Latte

Attention females:  Your beloved Pumpkin Spice Lattes are taking on a serious makeover.

Starbucks made the announcement Monday that they will be making some changes to the PSL recipe, and shocker, they are going to try to add REAL pumpkin.

The popular fall bevy has legions of obsessive fans.  Girls can’t add a photo onto Instagram without showing off their piping hot PSL .  But now with the recipe changing, you have to wonder, will people still love it?

“The PSL returns this fall, and this time it will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring,” the company announced on its blog on Monday.

The new rendition of the drink will now contain a Pumpkin Spice Flavored Sauce which is made up of: Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% or Less of Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto (Color), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), and Salt.  This will finally bring to a lot of media backlash around their actually not being any actual pumpkin in the drink.  I think this doesn’t seem like the worst idea in the world, I mean a real homemade pumpkin pie with actual pumpkin in it tastes way better than ones that come with the weird alternative from a can.

While the coffee giant did not provide any real explanation for the transformation apart from the feedback that it got from “customers and partners about ingredients,” it’s likely that the company is getting with the trend of other chains that have been making a big fuss over removing artificial ingredients from their menus.

Since Starbucks first launched the drink back in 2003, they have already sold more than 200 million PSL, and it is their top selling seasonal beverage.

Many retailers have tried to add PSL renditions to their menus but they never taste, look or feel quite the same as Starbucks iconic PSL does.  The old saying “Often imitated.  Never duplicated,” definitely holds true with this scenario.

There is still no word on when the latte will be available, but last year it was available September 2, which is really only a few weeks away ladies!
